Handcrafts have always accompanied female creation, being an undervalued skill, awarded with no recognition. Now a days, they suffer a double rejection: on the consumption side, by mass production and consumer culture; on the production side, for being traditional female labors associated with the image of the un-liberated woman. Artisan techniques, which once belonged to the common are now known to selected few, aficionados or specialized artisans who charge highly the price of their "hand made" product.
