9 Press (2003-06-18) 3º day of resístanse in ITOIZ

At 7.10 in the evening the Navarra´s goverment´s fire brigade finally got the last two activists out of the bunker after three days of resistance against the eviction and demolition of Itoiz. Just before this the Navarran police prepared a route around the village so that the reporters, that for three days had been denied the entrance in it, could take a close look around the semi-demolished village but weren´t allowed inside the houses. This attitude contrasts with the one they´ve kept throughout the last three days as the reporters hadn´t been allowed in Itoiz. This change of attitude is nothing but a marketing operation to show a "freed" Itoiz, without any resistance.

The digging machine that had been demolishing the nearby village of Orbaiz since yesterday is back in Itoiz.

On the other hand, the noisy protests called for today in Agoitz gathered two hundred people that carrying pots and other things, made a hell of a racket against the evictions and demolitions of the villages around. There have been tense moments as the town was practically invaded by the Civil Guard. They attempted to break up the protests but nothing as bad as the past two days.

Tomorrow thursday the 19th a press conference has been called outside Agoitz´s Court house to consider these last three days of resistance. Different people who have taken part in different ways will participate. In this conference we´ll also call for a demonstration under the motto: "HERRIAK BIZIRIK-ITOITZ GELDITU (VILLAGES ALIVE, STOP ITOIZ)" which will take place next saturday the twenty first at seven thirty in the evening from Agoitz´s Town hall.
