ENGLISH

Information for the node "Virtualization: There is a machine within my machine!":

  1. Title: "Virtualization: There is a machine within my machine!"
  2. Modality: Initial speech followed by demostration and finally a short debate or Q&A round
  3. Dynamizer's name: Aswarp (Alfonso FR)
  4. Summary: It will be told, step-by-step, how to virtualize an operating system for free in a simple and entertaing way (I hope). As an example the installation of a Windows XP will be performed within a GNU/Linux OS. Some video will be projected and at the end there will be a Q&A short round. The demo may be followed in real time by attendants if a computer is brought with the virtualbox software preinstalled (virtualbox)
  5. Target public: Every kind of public, specially interested in making various operating systems (Windows, MacOS, Linux) coexist within a single computer. If you don't know what the #u€$ an OS is, you still may find the chat enjoyable due to the high load of pretty graphics and multimedia ;)
  6. Keywords: Operating system, OS, virtualization, GNU/Linux, Windows, Mac, free software, FLOSS, virtualbox, installation
  7. Required knowledge for attendancy: It is preferrable to have spent some time installing a couple of different operating systems in your computer or laptop. If you haven't though you tried, still fine for us.
  8. Methodology: First goes the minispeech where there will be told what the heck OS and virtualization stand for. Afterwards a step-by-step demonstration and finally a short debate or Questions and Answers round (easy Q's, please).
  9. Duration: an hour and a half or so, supposing the internet connection works awright.
  10. Preferred scheduling: Whenever but without 'distress'. If possible, among the first nodes and not matching a node I want to attend to (no, I yet don't know which ones I may want to attend to. Kind of recursive isn't it?)
  11. Attendancy certainness: 8,1415926535
  12. Language: The speech goes in castillian/apanish but you may ask in english and be answered in the same language, no probs.
  13. Required materials: A computer with nicer hardware and RAM memory, preinstalled Ubuntu, projector and a fast connection to the Internet are a must.
